This policy explains what Fuel Checker collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep data to the minimum we need to run the service, and we never sell it.
Last updated June 2026.
Fuel Checker is operated by WebHero. If you have any question about your data or want to exercise any of the rights below, get in touch through the website and we will respond within 30 days.
If you create an account we store your email address and a securely hashed password so you can sign in. If you choose to save vehicles, favourite forecourts, routes or a postcode for the daily digest, we store those too. We also collect anonymous, aggregated usage analytics so we can see which features are used. We do not collect payment card details directly - those are handled by our payment processor.
When you allow it, your device location is used in your browser to centre the map and find nearby forecourts. It is processed on your device and is not sent to or stored on our servers unless you explicitly save a favourite or route that depends on it.
To sign you in, to show your saved items across your devices, to send the emails you opt into (price alerts, tax and MOT reminders, the cheapest-fuel digest), and to keep the service secure and reliable. We do not use your data for third-party advertising.
We use privacy-friendly product analytics (OpenPanel) that do not follow you around the web. There are no cross-site advertising trackers, and we do not build advertising profiles.
Fuel prices come from the UK Government fuel open-data scheme and retailer feeds. Mapping uses OpenStreetMap and CARTO; routing uses OSRM; vehicle data comes from the DVLA and DVSA. These providers process map tiles, routes and registration lookups on our behalf and do not receive your account details.
Account data is kept while your account is open. When you delete your account, your personal data is removed from our live systems promptly and from backups within 30 days. Anonymous, aggregated analytics may be retained as they cannot identify you.
You can access, correct, export or delete your data at any time from your account, or by emailing us. Every marketing email has a one-click unsubscribe link. You can also complain to the UK data-protection regulator (the ICO) if you are unhappy with how we handle your data.
